POSITION SUMMARY
Has shift responsibility for all activities on the patient care units and designated departments.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assesses the numbers and levels of personnel required to provide quality care, in collaboration with charge nurses, managers, and PCS Staffing Specialist. Coordinates daily staffing of patient care units for delivery of optimal patient care in a cost-effective manner
Evaluates and analyzes utilization of personnel, materials, and equipment during each shift worked and ongoing, to ensure effective and efficient use of hospital resources
Effectively manages patient, family, staff, and physician complaints/concerns/issues
Ensures proper patient placement, including infection control precautions/isolation
Responds to all Code situations; delegates to appropriate staff in the case of multiple, simultaneous events
Thoroughly familiar with patient confidentiality laws and policies, protects patient rights and privacy, releases information only as appropriate
Oversees, implements, and/or is a resource for operational procedures/processes which include, but are not limited to:
Call-back for Surgical Services and other on-call personnel
Death, morgue, mortuary
Employee exposure/accident investigation
Interpretation and translation services
Safe Place for Newborns
Difficult IV starts
Minimum Requirements
SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Works effectively under stress and frequently changing job requirements/situations
Demonstrates effective response to patient crisis/ emergency situations
Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES

American Heart Association Healthcare Providers Basic Life Support (BLS) or must be obtained by the last day of the month after the 60 day grace period
SAFE training certification or must be obtained by the last day of the month after the 6 month grace period
American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support card or must be obtained by the last day of the month after the 6 month grace period
American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support or Emergency Nurses' Pediatric Course card or obtain within 6 months of hire
Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field preferred
EXPERIENCE

Two years of acute care experience preferred
Leadership experience preferred

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
