Job Description:
Processes a variety of routine financial transactions including check cashing, withdrawals, deposits, and loan payments. Balances cash drawer, counting currency and coin accurately. Assists customers in determining the types of account that will meet their financial needs. Opens and processes all types of deposit and loan accounts including complex retail products such as consumer loans, VISA merchant accounts, and small business loans. Cross-sells other bank services and refers customers to other departments as appropriate. Answers questions and/or resolves complex technical problems on customer accounts. Provides exceptional customer service. Comply with all Federal, State, and local consumer protection laws governing loan origination including the SAFE Act and SAFE Act registration and renewal rules as defined by the bank, if applicable.
Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities - knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes. Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual required or job-specific training. Actively learns, demonstrates, and fosters the Umpqua corporate culture in all actions and words. Takes personal initiative and is a positive example for others to emulate. Universal Associate - Works on assignments that are moderately complex in nature (i.e., new accounts, interviewing clients, suggesting appropriate products where judgment is required in resolving store problems and making routine recommendations. Normally receives no instruction on routine work, general instructions on new assignments.
Over two years of banking experience (preferably at Umpqua Bank)
Strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task effectively
Proficient use of Microsoft Word and Excel software applications and ability to operate a variety of office equipment
Demonstrated sales skills
Ability to use office and bank software and equipment (i.e., computers, 10-key, etc.).
Knowledge of bank operating procedures, practices and policies.
Requires reading, writing, and basic arithmetic skills; Requires a high school diploma, vocational training, or equivalent, and customer service skills.
Registered Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO)
This position may require you to act as a Bank MLO, which is defined as an individual authorized by the Bank to take mortgage loan applications, offer a mortgage, arrange a mortgage, assists a consumer in obtaining or applying to obtain a mortgage, negotiate a mortgage, otherwise obtain or make a mortgage for another person, represent to the public (through advertising or other means of communication) that such person can or will perform any of these activities; or, refer a consumer to a loan originator (Note: Except those employees of the Bank who do not discuss particular credit terms available and do not refer the consumer, based on the employee's assessment of the consumer's financial characteristics to a particular Bank MLO), for compensation or gain. All MLO's will be required to register as a MLO complying with the S.A.F.E. Act requirements.
This position IS NOT authorized to act as a Bank Closed-End MLO which is defined as any position designated to perform the activities of a Bank MLO for closed-end transaction, and therefore this position is limited to acting as a Bank MLO for open-end transactions (i.e., home equity lines of credit) only.
Work involves sitting, extended periods of standing, occasional walking, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
Requires close visual acuity.
Normal office environment.
Infrequent travel unless noted.
No relocation offered.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
